Draymond Green Not Making Any Friends in Cleveland

After the Warriors’ game four loss to the Cavaliers on Friday, Warriors forward Draymond Green admitted how he felt about the Cleveland fan base.

“I don’t pay that much attention to anybody in Cleveland, honestly,” he said. “They don’t seem to be the sharpest people around.”

Green was at the center of attention is game four of the NBA Finals. He was initially believed to have been ejected from the game in the third quarter after he was charged with his second technical foul of the game. However, after much confusion from the Warriors and the referees, it turns out that the technical foul Green was charged with in the first half actually was charged to head coach Steve Kerr. As a result, Green stayed in the game. The crowd at Quicken Loans Arena expressed their opinion on the Warriors forward loud and clear throughout the game.

After Green was called for a foul, a loud “Draymond sucks” chant would reign through the building. The song “Hit the Road Jack” by Ray Charles was played throughout the arena after what appeared to be Green’s ejection. The song was played prematurely, although was still amusing for the home crowd as well as Green.

“Yeah, they messed that one up bad,” Green said with a smirk. “I don’t know. That was pretty bad.”

This is not the only time Green was questioned about Cleveland’s fans. A video came out of Green’s mother going back and forth with Cavalier fans after the Warriors’ game three victory. Mary Babers-Green would actually have to be held back by friends as police officers intervened and put an end to the incident. Green was asked about the incident and whether or not his mother was injured during the altercation.

“Yeah, they’re fine,” Green said about the incident. “It happens every year. Fans here are just rude. So, my mom can hold her own though. She’s good.”

The old saying in sports is that the opposing fan base doesn’t boo nobodies, so when asked about how he felt in regards to Cavs fans constantly heckling him each game, Green admitted that he actually enjoys it.

“Yeah, they make me feel good,” he said. “They show me how important I am to them. They are at home thinking about me. If you come into the game chanting my name, you be at home thinking about me. So shout out to them for the love.”

Cavalier fans hope to have one last chance at heckling Green as the series heads back to Golden State for game five on Monday The Warriors will look to close it out as they are currently up 3-1 in the series. The Cavaliers are looking to make history as they try to become the first team in NBA history to come back and win a series after being down 3-0. Expect Green and his pesky antics to be right in the middle of the action, much to the displeasure of Clevelanders.
