Rocky Seto is Leaving the Seahawks to Enter the Ministry

The Seattle Seahawks have confirmed that assistant defensive coach Rocky Seto has bid the team farewell to enter the ministry.

Seto has been working with the Seahawks since 2010. Prior, he had been an assistant coach at USC, where he was side by side with current Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll. He worked alongside Seattle’s defensive coordinator Kris Richard in helping create game plans and was also in charge of putting together videos that highlighted turnovers.

According to the Seattle Times, Seto has always had an interest in entering the ministry.

Seto has been a key contributor to the Seahawks defense, having enforced a tackling technique similar to what is used in rugby. He definitely has the experience to move up in the football world.

“Rocky has been most integral,” Carrol said in a statement to ESPN last year, “He has been really the bell cow for us on this one. He is the one that does all of the teachings of it in the meetings. He’s got a real passion for making the point, and he’s always been involved with it with us.”

With four kids, there is no doubt that after so many years of hectic football schedules he would want to take a step back and be able to be there for his family. There is a lot of responsibility in being a coach at the NFL level which includes taking care of your team along with your family.

Seto has commented on the teams’ website in the past on how difficult it can be to juggle family and football. “That’s a challenge as a coach, to make sure you focus on the marriage and focus on the children. Because so many times as men we get caught up in feeling like the work that we do defines us. It becomes more important than anything else.”

At only 42, perhaps Seto will decide one day to return to the NFL.
