LeBron opens up IPROMISE School in Akron

Cleveland Cavaliers

Akron, OH– It seems as if the legend of LeBron James grows larger with every coming day. On Monday he graced the world of education by opening up an elementary school.

This is another chapter in the book of greatness written by the king. His days of playing ball in his home state may be behind him now, but his legacy continues to expand in Ohio. James opened the school up to house up to 240 third and fourth graders, and will continue to grow to a 1-8 grade school by the year 2022.

This action speaks volumes to James’ kind and humble intentions. He is more than just a basketball player, and he is letting the world know that he is a man of the people, outside of the court. The King was featured on UNITERRUPTED’s Twitter, discussing the situation of Akron from his perspective, and the kids that he is now helping out:

LeBron has had a lot of hardship in his rise to stardom, and he does not want the kids who are being raised in Akron to have to endure the same fate. Most people are unable to achieve the same level of stature that LeBron has gotten too, and are unable to climb out of the hole that is the ugliness and horror of a broken city. James is looking to mend that by helping the education system in his hometown.

If Cleveland had any reason to hate LeBron for leaving again, this should negate any negativity that has been sent I his direction. He has done the unthinkable for his hometown state. He delivered night-in and night-out as The Kid from Akron who put Cleveland back on the map as an NBA franchise. He did his best as an athlete to carry  the organization to the top in the Eastern Conference, but unfortunately received no additional help from his front office in building around himself to make a championship contender out of the Cavaliers.

James needed to make the best out of this situation, and thus created a better one in Miami. He formed a complete roster that brought a dynasty to South Beach. After four short years, which included 2 regular season MVPs, 2 NBA Finals trophies and the Finals MVPs from those runs, James decided that he had to deliver on the promise he made so long ago.

James returned to “The Land” and joined the likes of another first pick in the NBA Draft in Kyrie Irving, and Kevin Love to form another super team situation. LeBron returned in style and he finally delivered a championship to the city of Cleveland in one of the most clutch ways possible, coming back from a 3-1 game deficit versus the greatest regular season team in league history, the 73-9 Golden State Warriors.

Despite having to face even worse odds in the NBA following that season, LeBron has gotten Cleveland to the finals four years in a row, no matter how depleted his roster looked. He decided to move on from his hometown state, and join the legacy of greatness over in California. That should not take away from his overall impact he has left on the state of Ohio. He delivered to them in more ways than anyone could have possibly imagined, and this is only the beginning of The King’s contributions back to his “Land”.

Well for starters I am an absolute nut for sports. When I am not indulging ESPN or watching a live sports event, I am a thrill-seeker. I enjoy the outdoors as well as having great experiences in social settings. I currently am a Mass Communications major at the University of South Florida. I am apart of the fraternity Sigma Pi, and am currently the secretary of the executive team. I don't know if there is a time when you'll catch me away from my computer because when I'm not typing out articles, I am taking minutes for meetings or doing homework.
