Hassan twins sacked by Egypt's Al-Masry for insulting board

On Saturday, Egyptian Premier League club Al-Masry fired coach Hossam Hassan and his football director twin, Ibrahim, for insulting the club’s board in front of the players during halftime last week.

Hossam was Egypt’s greatest player, scoring 83 goals in 176 appearances and winning three African Nations Cups.

The 56-year-old and his brother coached Al-Masry four times after retiring from playing.

The Port alleged club alleged the twins committed “unusual, unacceptable and unjustified transgressions” during a 3-1 loss to Aswan on Wednesday, leaving Al-Masry winless in four matches and tenth in the league.

“They insulted all board members in front of the players during the half-time break of the Aswan match,” the club said. “Some players requested contract termination due to insults.”

Al-Masry stated players had complained of “continuous insults and mistreatment” since the Hassans took over in December and levied an unknown sum on the pair.

Former Zamalek and Jordan national team coach Hossam did not react on his firing.

Al-Masry, under caretaker coach Mimi Abdelrazek, reached the League Cup semi-finals and will play in the Egypt Cup first round this week.
