Yankees Take Series Opener Over Tampa Bay, 4-1

The New York Yankees opened up a three-game series against the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday, taking the game by the score of 4-1.

The Yankees opened up the scoring early. Giancarlo Stanton hit a first inning double and later scored on a single by Aaron Hicks.

They would add two more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to give a little more breathing room.

Neil Walker worked a leadoff walk and then Austin Romine hit a two-run blast to right field.

Romine extended the lead to 3-0, but he also helped with his throwing arm.

On the other side of the ball, Yankees starter JA Happ had a fantastic evening. Happ spun seven shutout innings and allowed just one hit. He struck out four. He also walked four, but that was early in the game and he never let it feel like a run was going to score. He was fantastic!

Dellin Betances gave up the only run the Rays would score on a bit of a flukey homer to Willy Adames.

Aroldis Chapman and looked so much more like himself than what we have seen recently. He struck out one in the ninth to clinch the victory.
