Ange Postecoglou, the manager of Tottenham Hotspur, has said that he has discussed the Argentine’s discipline with center-back Christian Romero. On Thursday, Romero will return to the center of the defense for Tottenham Hotspur’s match against West Ham United.

Winner of the World Cup During a turbulent London derby match against Chelsea a month ago, Romero was issued a straight red card. Spurs concluded the match with nine men against Chelsea, losing 4-1.

The three-match suspension that Romero received, in addition to the severe injuries that playmaker James Maddison and Romero’s central defensive partner Micky van de Ven both sustained, proved to be highly costly for Tottenham, who have only managed to earn one point from their most recent four performances.

He told reporters on Wednesday, “It’s great to have (Romero) back,” Postecoglou said. Considering that Van de Ven, Eric Dier, and Ashley Phillips are all out of action, he is the only recognized center defender we have available. The fact that he is available to play center back for the squad is a positive development. Not only is he an outstanding player, but he is also a leader.

Even though Romero’s pedigree is not an issue, his discipline has been questioned. Romero has been sent off four times in a total of seventy-five appearances for Tottenham in all competitions.

In his words, “That is a part of how he is as a player,” Postecoglou added. Although he gives a sense of physicality to the group, it is evident that when he goes over the boundaries, it harms the group as a whole.

“I have had a word with him about the discipline side of things, but it is great to have him back.”

Positioned fifth, Tottenham may get striker Richarlison back for the match against West Ham. Richarlison, who is Brazilian, has recovered from a pelvic injury. On the other hand, Pape Matar Sarr is not yet fit to play, but he may return for the match against Newcastle United on Sunday.

After a losing streak of three games, Postecoglou’s team finally broke their losing streak with a thrilling 3-3 draw away to champions Manchester City on Sunday.

“So we were not overjoyed in getting a draw (at City) but the manner they went about it gave them more belief in what we are trying to be,” according to Postecoglou.

It is more about the improvement in any sentiments that that game may have brought about than the outcome of the game itself. “The second-half performance showed remarkable resilience. Now, we are trying to maintain our concentration on reaching those levels.

As a consequence of Postecoglou’s leadership, Tottenham has gotten off to their most excellent start after ten games since the club won the double championship in 1960-1961. Despite the recent results, the atmosphere at Tottenham is still upbeat.

David Moyes, the manager of West Ham United, does not appear astonished by the impression the Australian has had in his first season as a Premier League manager. Moyes is a great supporter of the way that Australia plays.

“He has accomplished a great deal. At this point, Tottenham is a solid team. Moyes stated that he has significantly impacted the way that they perform, the way that they play, as well as the audience and environment.

“One thing that I would say is that I am surprised that everyone else has been surprised with what he has done after what he did at Celtic, where the pressure is enormous and he coped and dealt with it.”

Kurt Zouma, the captain of West Ham, is eligible to play despite the stress of having his house broken into the previous weekend before the home game against Crystal Palace. Michail Antonio, the striker, will not be available for West Ham to play with again.

Moyes expressed his happiness. “We are happy to have him back,” he stated. The club has been supportive of him during this difficult time. It has been a terrible circumstance for him. He serves as our captain, and we are wholly committed to him. “No one would want that to happen to themselves.”
