Paige Vanzant—a popular UFC flyweight with a strong social media following—announced on Tuesday via social media that she would need a second surgery on her right arm after her first surgery “failed.”
Vanzant did not give her arm the proper time to heal before going back to training. Not having an injury heal properly before going back to training can make the injury even worse than the first time the injury happened. Now, she has to undergo a more serious surgery.
Of course, the first surgery technically did not “fail”; she just rushed her recovery time. She broke her arm in the first round of her fight with Jessica-Rose Clark in January in St. Louis. It was her third loss in her last four fights.
She had planned to come back to the UFC near the end of the summer, but now has to make other plans because of her re-injured arm.
