Leipzig’s Orban is out for around 10 weeks with injury

Willi Orban, a defender for RB Leipzig who represents Hungary, will be out of action for around ten weeks after suffering a knee injury while on international duty, the Bundesliga club said on Tuesday.

As a result of the injury that Leipzig skipper Orban sustained during their 1-1 friendly tie against the Czech Republic on Sunday, Leipzig was compelled to take Orban off the field 60 minutes into the match.

“More detailed examinations on Monday in Leipzig revealed that our captain sustained an injury to his right knee and will therefore be out of action for our team for approximately ten weeks,” Leipzig stated. “This means that he will be unable to contribute to our team’s success for the foreseeable future.”

Orban, now 30 years old, has been a member of the Hungarian national team on 41 occasions since making his debut in October 2018, when Hungary suffered a 1-0 defeat to Greece in the Nations League.
