LeBron Rules Out Rockets

The Houton Rockets are no longer s a legitimate landing spot for LeBron James, according to ESPN’s Chris Haynes.

LeBron has been rumored to have interest in joining the Rockets for a while now because of his relationship with Chris Paul and the rest of the talent on the James Harden-led squad.

I have always said I don’t really see LeBron going to the Western Conference and that I, in fact, thought he would stay in Cleveland. But after the debacle in Game 1 of the NBA Finals, I think that has become exponentially less likely.

It always seemed like the Rockets would have a lot of roster maneuvering to do in order to make a LeBron-Harden-CP3 triad possible. They would probably have had to move Eric Gordon and/or Ryan Anderson.

The Rockets are choosing to prioritize maintaining continuity and depth to try to take down the Golden State Warriors next year.

It has become increasingly challenging trying to figure out where LeBron will ultimately take his talents this fall, but it sounds like Houston can be ruled out.

If we assume a Cleveland reunion is out of the question, I think that leaves the Spurs, Lakers, and Sixers as the legitimate destinations.

I’ve never been a huge Lakers believer. I just don’t see it unless they also bring in someone like Paul George or Boogie Cousins.

The Spurs are a bit more realistic, given the culture they have there and the profound respect that LeBron has for Gregg Poppovich. A part of me is still hesitant to say LeBron will leave a wide-open Eastern Conference and give himself a harder path to the finals.

I think I have convinced myself that the Philadelphia 76ers are the most likely spot for King James. Since they have moved on from the Bryan Colangelo drama, I think it is a very realistic scenario again. I have said for some time that I think LeBron could head for Philly if he leaves Cleveland, and I no longer believe he stays in Cleveland.
