When Inter Milan striker Romelu Lukaku received racist abuse during Tuesday’s Coppa Italia semifinal, an Italian sports court ordered Juventus to shut a portion of their stadium for their next home Serie A match against Napoli.
Racist chanting were heard emanating from the Tribuna Sud section of Juve’s Allianz Stadium during the 1-1 first leg tie against Inter, thus it will be closed for their game against Napoli on April 23.
“Between the 35th and 49th minutes of the second half, the Juventus fans occupying the top tier of the sector known as the “tribuna sud” yelled filthy and offensive choruses and chants of racial discrimination against the player of Internazionale,” a Serie A statement read.
After viral video of the event, Juventus reportedly banned two supporters from their stadium, according to the Italian news agency ANSA.
