Zlatan Ibrahimovic, a former striker for AC Milan, has joined RedBird Capital Partners as an operating partner and will serve as a senior advisor to AC Milan ownership and senior management, according to an announcement by the private investment business on Monday.

After the previous season, Ibrahimovic, who is 42 years old, announced that he would be retiring from playing in June. This ended his career at Milan, where he had previously played for Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus, Inter Milan, Barcelona, and the Los Angeles Galaxy.

As an operating partner at RedBird, Ibrahimovic will work closely with the company’s global investment team and assist the company’s investment portfolio, including investments in sports, media, and entertainment.

“I am extremely grateful to be joining both RedBird and AC Milan in these important and influential roles,” Ibrahimovic told reporters.

“I look forward to contributing to their investing activities across their sports, media and entertainment properties.”

At Milan, he will serve as senior advisor to the club’s ownership, which RedBird leads. He will also play an active part in the club’s sports and business activities, and his remit also covers the development of players and the advancement of Milan’s worldwide brand.

“My love for the Rossoneri will never die, and the opportunity to be a part of its future in a meaningful way is something I could only have dreamed of,” said the Swedish soccer player.

Giorgio Furlani, Milan’s CEO, also remarked on Ibrahimovic’s return to the club. Ibrahimovic was instrumental in Milan’s victory in the Serie A championship 2022.

“Bringing a leader like Ibra as an Advisor to AC Milan’s leadership team underscores our commitment to the future success of our club for the benefit of our players and our fans,” according to Furlani.

“We’re fortunate to have access to Ibra’s creativity and expansive network of relationships across European Football to continue elevating the club on a global stage.”
