Brian Kilmeade Suggests That There Shouldn’t be Any Sharks When Surfers Compete

Brian Kilmeade is a popular Fox News show presenter and talk show host. Recently, the 51 year-old host had a segment on surfing competitions. Kilmeade and his colleagues were discussing the issue of how Mick Fanning, a professional surfer had to actually fight off a shark in order to just compete properly in the J-Bay open in South Africa in 2015.

During the discussion, Kilmeade shared his opinion on safety checks during the competition and he was of the opinion that the sharks should be cleared from the areas that will be used by the surfers during the competition. Kilmeade said,

“I think that the most shocking thing is that after you hear about the six attacks in North Carolina, okay, these are just swimmers. But then when you see a champion surfer and you have a three camera shoot and an overhead shot, [you] say, ‘Oh my goodness, it could happen anywhere.”

Furthermore, he said, “You would think that they would have a way of clearing the waters before a competition of this level. But I guess they don’t.”

Kilmeade was heavily opinionated on this issue and concluded that the only way surfers would be safe is if the clearing of sharks takes place before a competition.
